According to their bio page, Calla is “Aurelio Valle (guitar/vocals), Wayne Magruder (drums/ programming/ percussion) and Sean Donovan (keyboard/bass/programming)”, who “understand the way in which the dirtiness of rock intersects the world of high art”. I hear influences ranging from Lush & Ride to the Pixies with a bit of Television and Radiohead mixed in.
Calla moved from Texas to Brooklyn in 1995. They founded eacherHundreds (formerly ernstRecordings) in 1993 to release experimental music. Check ‘em out if you like the non-pretentious well-crafted sound of indie boys.

Great band, but they were better live when called The Factory Press. More like life “crazy” than “crazy” as an artform. Still Calla makes inspiring music…
